Novice Aquaholics
(5-10)
This is our pre-competitive program that focuses on developing a
long term swim addict by introducing proper competitive swimming
technique and stroke development. In our novice program the
swimmer will continue to develop comfort in the water and learn the
essentials of freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke,
dives/starts and legal turns in a smaller group setting.
Athletes in this group focus mainly on learning the four legal
competitive strokes, having fun, and perfecting start and turn
technique whilst being introduced to competitve swimming.
Prerequisite Skills:
- Swimmers entering the Novice program need to at least 5 years
old and are encouraged to "try out" for the novice
program.
- Swimmers trying out needs to at minimum be able to swim 25 yars
freestyle and 25 yards backstroke.
- Swimmers younger than the age of 5 or that does not meet the
minimum requirements, are encouraged to continue with
SwimAmerica learn to swim lessons.
Group Requirement:
- Attend a minimum of two practices per week.
- Bring suit, cap, goggles, water bottle and a towel to
every practise.
- Enter in meets only with coach’s recommendation when
swimmer is emotionaly and physically ready to compete.

Age Group Aquaholics (Ages
7-12)
With the knowledge of the basic fundamentals of competitive
swimming, the Age Group program will continue to focus on stroke
technique, starts and turn improvement. In addition the Age
Group program will be exposed to various energy systems, interval
training, and basic race strategies. Teamwork will be
stressed as well as individual and group goal setting. More
importantly, swimmers in our program will be encouraged to be
competitive (it is OK to be competitive!) with excellent
sportsmanship.
Prerequisite Skills:
- Coach’s recommendation and completion of Novice program
checklist.
- Previous competitive swimming experience preferred.
Group Requirements:
- Attend a minimum or three practices per week.
- Bring suit, goggles, water bottle and towel to every practice.
- Have a positive mental attitude, desire to improve in sport of
swimming and be respectful towards coaches and other team members.

Junior Aquaholics (12-16)
Athletes in this group are usually at least 12 years old and
have completed the Age Group move-up skills list.
Training takes precedence over technique work for the first time in
the athlete’s development but technique will be closely
monitored to avoid formation of bad habits. While continuing
to fine-tune stroke technique, turns and starts, the primary focus
of the Junior Aquaholics group is to develop an understanding of
the basic parameters of training. These parameters include an
introduction to dry-land excercises, intermediate race
strategy, attending morning practices as well as afternoon
practices.
Prerequisite Skills:
A recommendation from the Head Coach.
Previous swimming experience and exceeding requirements from the
Age Group checklist.
Group Requirements:
- Strong committment to training regularly as well as
attending meets. Attend 4 -7 practices per week.
- Bring suit, cap, goggles, waterbottle and towel to every
practice.
- Be consistent with technique
- Positive mental attitude, eagerness to work with coaching staff
on all aspects of competitive swimming to become a more succcessful
competitor/athlete and individual.

Senior Aquaholics (12-18)
Minimum age for entry into this group is 12 (girls) or 13
(boys). Athletes entering the Senior group must display a strong
desire to perform at the highest level they are capable of.
Training is geared towards individual talents, although a strong
aerobic endurance factor is present. Athletes in the Senior group
are directed towards making their Sectional Time
Standards. Minimum training sets include:

National Aquaholics
Minimum criteria for entry is (1) National time
standard and a desire to be competitive on a National level.
This group focuses on qualifying beyond sectional level.
(Junior Nationals, US Open, or Olympic level).
