Swim career ended prematurely due to sanctions against South Africa during apartheid. Recruited by South African Navy Special Operations Dive Team. Served as Navy Special Teams Dive Instructor and Operational Mine Counter Measure Team member. Water sports instructor in Ionian Islands, Greece. Diploma in Business Management, Natal Technicon, South Africa, Diploma in Anatomy, Physiology & Massage from Henley Management College, United Kingdom. ASCA Level 2 Coaches Certification, lifetime American Swim Coaches Association member. and SwimAmerica program Director.
